About the teacher

This course will be taught by me, Vivianne Ashford. I am interested in Magical Creatures since I was young, when I first started observing the garden gnomes and tried to train them. Naturally I was fascinated by the possibility to study those special creatures which are unique and only known to wizards, so I focused on them when I was at Hogwarts. I graded with an N.E.W.T in Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Ancient Runes and Potions, then I started at the Ministry at the Department for Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures. I worked for several years in the best division, which means I was in charge for the magical `animals`in the classical meaning. A big task for this department is creating safe and muggle-free areas for endangered species and keep their existence secret, which was were I was involved. I put my focus on the hippocampus, as you may know, this is a creature, half horse, half fish, which lives in the Mediterranean, because these animals need special protection due to the fact greek tourists love to explore the sea. But I don't want to get too much into detail, maybe I will say something to this later in the lessons. I took the chance to teach for a year (maybe more) at Hogwarts and I hope I will be able to fascinate you for those creatures, so you can understand why wizards and witches are working hard to protect them and keep them secret. I hope to spend a good year with you and a lot of fun.
